Seminars
Don't Carry
on Regardless:
Transforming the hospital experience for patients and staff
These seminars are an opportunity for you, as senior NHS leaders and independent hospital directors, to come together and scrutinise some simple and practical techniques which will address two of the most pressing challenges facing healthcare:
• Improving the patient experience - both clinically and non-clinically
• Engaging and enrolling the staff that care for our patients
It's our belief that these two things are firmly interdependent.
We will be discussing some simple and practical ways to measure the patient's experience as well as improving levels of staff engagement. These ideas can be quickly applied by all leaders to deliver measurable improvements in order to move your organisation to the next level of performance.
We have worked with high performing organisation both inside and outside healthcare. We understand what is important to patients, what is important to staff and what is important to you, as senior leaders. We understand how and why these techniques work.
Dr D J Brown will be leading the discussion and explaining how to:
• Measure the experience of patients and staff
• Implement 'Do-Say Don't Say' guidelines
• Get to grips with Pain
• Link leadership rounds with clinical rounds
• Really say 'thank you'
• Demand respect (or rather R.E.S.P.E.C.T)
• Deal with the 'dead wood'
• Transform the recruitment process
We have worked with high performing organisation both inside and outside healthcare. We understand what is important to patients, what is important to staff and what is important to you, as senior leaders.

Courses
Leading
Transformation:
Delivering results through cultural change
This intensive week-long immersion course is aimed at senior leaders and those committed to leading the delivery of improved patient care within their organisation. We address head-on the ways participants can personally and practically achieve the cultural changes that are necessary to deliver lasting results. We use this course to prepare our coaches for their work.
Drawing on many years of experience in both the healthcare setting as well as in other industry sectors, we provide a structured approach of creating lasting and positive change
Benefits
Using our approach, attendees return to their organisations with
the proven techniques and insights to lead change, improve patient care
and staff satisfaction as well as create a positive and performance-driven
organisation.
Post-course coaching
This course has its biggest impact when two or more people from
the same institution attend. We find the support they offer each other
in the weeks and months following pays substantial dividends. For the same
reason, and to ensure that every individual gains maximum benefit, we offer
- included within the course fee - a day’s on-site coaching support for
each participant.

Leadership programme:
creating the leaders of the future
This four day course both confronts and supports new leaders with the challenges they face. For more seasoned managers it provides the foundations for improving their leadership practice.
The course is a personal experience. It is structured to allow participants time to explore leadership issues that they face in their day-to-day work. It is therefore applicable to clinicians and administrators alike - and is most effective with a mixture of the two.
Each subject area is presented first as an exercise or experience which is then explored theoretically before being opened out for group and individual discussion. Using this structure we accommodate different learning styles and ensure that the energy and concentration can be maintained.
Structure
The four days are based on four aspects of leadership: self, teams, others
and results. Each day presents several different important leadership
models.
Benefits
Attendees return with a work-book which contains the leadership models
discussed, which is often crammed with their own notes on how they, personally,
can address the issues that they face. Our clients’ feedback is that
this course weaves the theoretical and practical aspects together in
a way that brings the solutions to life.
The ‘buddy’ system
We also use the course to instigate and encourage a system of peer-to-peer
support which we call the ‘buddy system’. Course attendees learn the rudiments
of coaching and use this to support each other during and after the course.
This takes place in the evenings for residential courses or between workshop
dates. We find that strong buddy networks ensure that lessons learned do
not ‘evaporate’ after the course has finished.
Attendance & costs
The course, which can be tailored to specific
requirements, can be run on-site or in one of our preferred hotels or training
centres. The course is charged at a fixed price which depends on number
of attendees and location.
